This Annual Delta Valentine Affair, camping and Family Reunion are all a tradition of all Deltans here overseas. Again a toast and 3 cheers to those who started those event especially to Brothers Lope Cristobal, Wilson Lautchang, Bong Hernandez, Rey Villegas, Nelson Ipapo, Alex Ipapo together with their spouses and others. The most memorable were the "candle light dinner" Valentine celebration at Brother Wilson's residence and the Family Reunion at Brother Lope's and Camping at Wrightwood Campground most especially Brod Gos Sunga story telling to our young children up to midnight with firewood set up to keep them warm. Don't forget the Delta welcoming rituals that the new attendees will have to go thru on every family reunion, somebody will have to come up with an official APODeltaOAA paddle for us to use. To be continued!!!! Best regards. Brod Fortune First of all, i would like Bro Deo with the help of Bro Trigo for taking charge of this affair. sorry that I can't make it this time, together with Bro Dick and Bro Rodel. if this is only within the allowable/resonable driving distance, i could probably be there every year. This Valentines affair has been a tradition started by the first group of Deltans in California, it was already part of our legacy. lets not our difference of our opinion spoil this tradition. i encourage brothers and sisters to take part of this affair, enjoy the fellowship and camaraderie. enjoy and have a safe trip to everyone. Peter The summer wind came blowin' in From across the sea It lingered there to touch your hair And walk with me All summer long we sang a song And then we strolled that golden sand Two sweethearts and the summer wind Like painted kites, those days and nights They went flying by The world was new beneath the blue Umbrella sky Then softer than a piper man One day, it called to you I lost you I lost you to The summer wind The autumn wind And the winter winds They have come and gone And still those days Those lonely days They go on and on And guess who’s sigh`s His lullabies through nights that never end My fickled friend, The summer wind The summer wind warm summer wind Mmm the summer wind When I was seventeen It was a very good year It was a very good year for small town girls And soft summer nights Wed hide from the lights On the village green When I was seventeen When I was twenty-one It was a very good year It was a very good year for city girls Who lived up the stair With all that perfumed hair And it came undone When I was twenty-one When I was thirty-five It was a very good year It was a very good year for blue-blooded girls Of independent means Wed ride in limousines Their chauffeurs would drive When I was thirty-five But now the days grow short Im in the autumn of the year And now I think of my life as vintage wine from fine old kegs from the brim to the dregs And it poured sweet and clear It was a very good year Well, when I was a young man never been kissed I got to thinkin' it over how much I had missed So I got me a girl and I kissed her and then, and then Oh, lordy, well I kissed 'er again Well I asked her to marry and to be my sweet wife I told her we'd be so happy for the rest of our life I begged and I pleaded like a natural man And then, whoops oh lordy, well she gave me her hand Brothers and Sisters, When we founded the Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Fraternity at MIT, almost 60 years ago, we pinned our hopes and dreams on a vision that our chapter will endure the test and challenges of time. Certainly, it did, and I cannot describe the feeling of euphoria that I felt when I met our brothers and sisters here in the USA, for the first time, after so many years of being a member of APO Delta. Though it was just our first meeting, they readily accepted me, after identifying myself, we did the APO hand shake and embraced each other as if we were long lost friends. Then and there, I also came to know and learned from them that our Chapter is as strong and vibrant as ever, with so many service and other projects on going and in the drawing board. So I said to myself, “Thanks God, our hopes and efforts were not in vain.” Our Chapter is indeed so grateful to all of you for your relentless efforts to help realize this dream of an active and strong Delta. Lately, however, I read in the "egroup" some discussions, pros and cons, about an issue for the reinstatement of an expelled member of Delta Chapter that, according to the same "egroup", had already been decided upon more than four decades ago.Puzzled, I thought to myself, Was the decision final and carried out? If so, why was the issue of reinstatement of the expelled member reopened for discussion again and even to be voted upon in a meeting in the near future? Was there a formal letter of appeal for reinstatement submitted by the expelled member by which to base our course of action? Or has he posted anything in this regard or participated in the discussions in the egroup? If in the negative or if there is none, then, I think, it is best that, for the sake of unity and for the love of and loyalty to our Chapter, we should just abide by the decision penned or promulgated 40 years ago and we move on. Our chapter has more pressing concerns to deal with, aside from the fact that the National Council might not be willing even just to review nor to reverse a decision made so long long ago. Also, the filing for an appeal or a request for reinstatement, has a time frame which may have already lapsed a long time ago. There are some very urgent concerns that need our attention, like the dwindling resident membership and the lack of funds. For the good of our Chapter, I urge you all to please redirect your efforts to these and other pressing problems. May I remind you that the Pledge of Loyalty that we have been sworn to is a commitment to uphold and abide to our Institution's rules, regulations and decisions. This is an important component of the foundation which keeps our Institution upright. Wavering on this commitment affects the stability of our Chapter, negatively. Thank you my brothers and sisters, I am very proud of and very grateful to all of you. Mabuhay ang Delta. Yours in LFS, Brother Tito Cerdan - Delta Chapter -1952 -Charter Member 0004-1952 -00135 | BROD TITO CERDAN
Here are the other pictures we took during my visit with Brod Tito from his private room. I tried sending these pictures to the Egroup but both times it returned. Requesting that you kindly forward to the rest of our Brod's and Sis' these photos including the earlier one sent to you, please, so they can see the healthy condition our Brod Tito is in. Thank you much.
